About us

The Berlin Knits Yarnfestival is organized by - Steffi und Marion - with support from Veronika, Steffis daughter, a professionell eventmanager  - not to forget the support by our friends and family! We met at - guess ? yes of course, at Ravelry - almost ten years ago! We both share the love for knitting and precious yarn - but precious yarn wasn´t available - even in an big city like Berlin. It was only a question of time until we opened our own Yarnshop => Yarn over Berlin went live in January 2012! Although we have "real jobs" in our "real lifes" a new life began. We met yarn companies and dyers and became friends with many designers - plus there is our very active Ravelry-group which feels like home.

Berlin Knits takes place for the second time. After visiting the  New York Sheep & Woolfestival in Rhinebeck, New York and being a vendor at Wollfest Hamburg 2014 it was for sure=> Berlin needs an  internationalYarnfestival, too. Pretty spontaneous and in less than five months time we organized the first Berlin Knits Yarnfestival which took place in May 2015. Looking back to these days still fills us with lots of joy - it was more than we could dream of - heartwarming encounters inbetween colourful yarn and a networking-platform for people who never met before inreal life! This year it is a different location - and fall instead of spring - but what it´s all about hasn´t changed => knitters from all over the world, wonderful designers and vendors who offer everything a knitter can dream of!
